Born in Karachi into a Rajput family originally from Azad Kashmir, Hussain moved with his family to Rawalpindi at the age of five. He is the youngest of twelve siblings, including his sister Schumaila Hussain, a Dubai-based singer known for performing OSTs for dramas such as Muqabil (2016) and Khamoshi (2017–2018), and a brother who is also a scriptwriter. Hussain began his career in theatre, collaborating with Kopycats Productions on iconic plays written by Anwar Maqsood, including Aangan Terha, Half Plate, Sawa 14 August, Pawney 14 August, and Siachein. He gained acclaim for his role as Akbar in Aangan Terha, originally played by Salim Nasir. Transitioning to cinema, Hussain made his Lollywood debut as Moti in Karachi Se Lahore (2015), a film he also wrote, and reprised the role in its spin-off Lahore Se Aagey (2016). He contributed to dialogues and scripts in other films, including Ho Mann Jahaan (2016), Chhalawa (2019), and upcoming projects like Kukri (2023) and Taxali Gate (2024). On television, Hussain has appeared in serials such as Coke Kahani (2012), Dareecha (2011–2012), Shadi Mubarak Ho (2017), and Baandi (2018–2019), where his portrayal of the antagonist received widespread recognition. He also directed the drama serial Koyal (2021–2022) and hosted two seasons of The After Moon Show on Hum TV starting in 2018. Hussain has been nominated and awarded at prestigious ceremonies, including the Lux Style Awards and Hum Awards, winning Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Baandi. Hussain’s personal life has attracted media attention, particularly his public proposal to actress Iqra Aziz during the Lux Style Awards, followed by their marriage in Karachi on 28 December 2019. While celebrated for his versatility, Hussain has faced controversies, including criticism for jokes about the Pathan community and remarks about Turkish actors, sparking debates on social media regarding cultural sensitivity. Despite this, he remains a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, known for his comedic timing, writing, and contributions to both theatre and television.
