THIS MAN BECAME DISNEY'S GREATEST RIVAL!!! #informative #hollywood
In the 90s, Disney fired a man who later became their biggest rival. In the early 1990s, Disney’s animated movies were becoming massive hits. Movies like Aladdin and The Lion King earned hundreds of millions of dollars, and Disney became a leading name in animation. At that time, Jeffrey Katzenberg was the Head of Film and TV Production at Disney. He demanded $250 million in royalties, claiming that he was responsible for the success of Disney’s movies. But Disney’s CEO, Michael Eisner, refused—and eventually, fired him. But Jeffrey wasn't someone who gave up easily. He joined hands with two other people and launched a new company. Their goal was to create fresh and innovative movies, different from Disney’s traditional style. That company went on to create Shrek, How To Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda—and it was called DreamWorks SKG. Very soon, it became a major rival to Disney. By 2016, the value of its movie library was estimated at $3.6 billion.
